"use your internal compass…"

this is the way forward

We specialize in addressing substance abuse and practice Imago Relationship Therapy for couples. Aporia is a partnership with thirty years of combined experience in addiction counseling. We have what it takes to assist the individual and their loved ones into a recovery program that works. We are dedicated to this process and understand the confusion and questions people need to ask. It is a very misunderstood "dis-ease," and leaves families fragmented and the addicted one alone. We work at creating a plan and a foundation of recovery for both the addicted person and the family members separately. Each party involved need to be educated in the part that they play and how to change this dynamic. It is very complicated and difficult to understand but there is a solution and we can help.

Imago Relationship Therapy came to us as an outgrowth of our recognition that people in recovery need help with relationships and families need support. Our interest in Imago expanded our philosophical approach to therapy and provided us a skill set useful for any couple seeking to improve their relationship. Please see our section on Imago for more information.

Aporia offers individual therapy, couples and family counseling, and small group therapy. Our treatment is holistic; every aspect of your life is important. How life is affected by addiction, and what it looks like without it, is daunting beyond the prospect of just stopping. But beyond addiction there are new possibilities, and treatment is meant to explore how life can be different.

Group therapy consists of up to eight people and meet once a week for approximately two hours. People in our group are considering recovery, or have time in recovery and are working through life issues, or are people with co-dependency issues concerning a loved one. We find the mix of viewpoints and personalities stimulating, and effective. We enjoy our time each week and take great pride in the success we’ve had with it.
